A Collaborative Path to Quality Healthcare at NHRMC

On Thursday May 30, I had a Zoom meeting with Dr. David Priest, the Chief Quality Officer at Novant Health Corporate.  The first thing we discussed was that we share a common goal for New Hanover Regional Medical Center - a highly reliable hospital with a strong safety culture. Simply stated - a Five Star Hospital.  This is what we need and deserve.

I informed Dr. Priest that I would be giving him advanced review of all blogs that will be posted here and will accept any valid changes and input into the content.  I also let him know that I would blog any quality improvements NHRMC could validate with data.  The intent is to celebrate and reinforce each milepost on the journey to Five Stars.  We can get there together but will not as adversaries.

Follow this blog for analysis of quality benchmarks at NHRMC, discussion of what the community can do to support the quality improvement process, and practical discussions of what you can do to advocate for yourself and your family.

It will be quite a journey.
